Something else the S.E.C. ferreted out: once the ineligible companies were in the two Pax World funds, they tended to elude notice. Though the company told shareholders that it regularly reviewed all holdings, the S.E.C. determined that the company's social research department merely reviewed holdings "as time permitted." As a result, the funds held at least one prohibited security every single day from 2001 through early 2006.
